Everyday..

I try to the best of my ability in my courses, yet I still don't project out of my school. On top of that, my upcoming report card made my GPA, Class Rank look like sh***. Dam, I try so much, recently my parents told me that YOU HAVE NO CHANCE AT HARVARD..... I just started crying.
I can't believe it.

If you don't go to Harvard, it doesn't mean your life's over. 90% of people wish they could be in your position. You don't have to go to Harvard to be successful.

Yeah, my entire class rank is entirely screwed because of my freshman year, I could take all the AP classes in the world and still be waaay behind the top kids. I have a 4.0 UW, and about a 4.5 W. I could be tied for first with all the 4.8 kids, BUT I took CP physics and H instead of this high honors program, math, headdesk-why was I so clueless last year AND I take a lot of cc classes, which, alas, are unweighted. I'm at about 40 (of 650+)-something right now, and I'm not even sure if that excludes the people tied for first, or not. Why?

^^AND I'm in more APs than every other sophmore except one, who has the same number, but no cc classes.

Sorry, I'm just...meh

IM me if you want to talk..

Oh GOSH. Unclench kiddies. Seriously, it'll do you good. You have a 4.0? Must mean you worked hard right? So WHY are you so worried about doing better than others? Do the best that YOU can do rather than worrying about silly competitive junk like that. And you're just a sophomore? What will you DO jr year? Relax, we have enough type A's dropping dead from stress as it is.

Oh, and no chance at Harvard? First, you don't know that, nobody does. Secondly, why Harvard? There are a million other schools just as good or better out there.

lol no one has a chance at Harvard...

Hah, I just read over my post and see how much of a lunatic I seem like. I really need to be less competitive and actually worry about getting my stuff done. off to finish english homework <---Case in point.

I'm sure your report wasn't that horrible...what did you get?

There is no one who has a good chance of getting into Harvard. Everyone has the most miniscule of hopes for such a school. And besides, who says that Harvard is the school for you or the place that best fits you? Just because of the name? That is not a reason to pick a school. Prestige of the name is a factor, but should be far from the determinent to your decision. You are right, it typically takes a genius among geniuses to distinguish themselves from other Harvard applicants, but do you really think that everyone who applies is that distinguished. Sure, valedictorian means nothing there, and 4.0 is the norm out of high school. Tons of EC's and community service? Thats a given. I am sure that many applicants are in the same situation you are in. And keep in mind what I said earlier: Don't go to a school for the name. It may not be the right fit for you. Do some honest research into what will best fit you with regard to college. I am sick of hearing how kids are having their parents brainwash them with such garbage.
