everything about teacher recs!

hey i have some questions about teacher recs…

I’m applying EA to a school, but I also plan to apply RD to some other schools no matter whether or not I get accepted EA. I’m sure other people plan to do this, so how do you guys go about asking for recs? Do you first ask for your EA rec and then a few weeks later ask for RD rec? And what if, after getting in EA, you apply to fewer RD schools? But, you have to ask for RD recs before the EA results come in (because those usually come in only 2 weeks before RD deadlines and that is not enough time for your teachers…)

I go to a small to medium sized school where many teachers get to know their students well. However, I haven’t really done this with teachers whose classes I have done well or made an effort in =/ so…do you think it is ok to ask for a EA rec from a teacher who I’ve only known for a few weeks this fall? Or should I ask those teachers whose classes I didn’t do that well in and didn’t go to see often after class, etc, but know me better?

ughh I’m pretty stressed as I’m sure a lot of '08ers are.

1) You ask for the recommendations all at the same time. You can tell the teacher which school you're applying to EA. Then the teachers can decide if they want to send all the letters at the same time, or whether they want to hold the RD letters until after the EA deadline.

It's no problem if the schools get your recs before your application; that happens all the time.

2) Ask the teachers who you think will be able to write the best recommendation. You can simply ask if they think they can write a strong recommendation for you.

It's not a big deal for a teacher to send multiple recs. They photocopy the letter and lick another envelope.

If the college DOES receive the rec before your actual application, do you have to have your name and social security number somewhere on the rec so they know how to file it? or am I getting too specific here...? lol, argh I am stressing out over trivial things like this

Your name and some identifying information (address, birth date, ssn) MUST be on the letter. Regardless of whether it arrives before or after the rest of the application. They need to know who the letter is for and where to file it.

Ah, got it. thanks
