Is it ok if i first ask a teacher to write me a rec. just for my EA school, and then later ask a different teacher to write my recommendations for RD?
B/c during the time b/t EA and RD deadlines i may get to know another teacher better than the first. So is it ok? BTW, the school requires two recs, and i already have a teacher that will write for both EA and RD. (it is about the 2nd teacher that i am asking about).

Yes, you can chose a different teacher to write recs for different colleges. And, you'll have about a week or two after finding out about your EA schools (as long as they have a early deadline) to have another teacher write a rec.

I assume you are speaking about different schools and different admissions applications, and if so, it doesn't matter one way or the other which teachers you ask for recommendations. If you feel that each of the teachers you ask would know you well enough to offer a strong recommendation, go for it. Just ask yourself who you think would provide the best recommendation.

As for hearing back from the school regarding your EA decision, that usually happens sometime in December, and depending on the school it can run from early to late in the month. For your RD application, you will simply have to know what the deadline is to have your teacher recommendation(s) submitted (usally it's the same as the application deadline). If you are accepted by your EA school BEFORE the deadline for submission of the RD application, then you can dispense with asking any teacher for the RD application. On the other hand, if you are rejected AND/OR you want to hedge your bet, ask the other teacher for a recommendation anyway -- most teachers will want at least a month's notice for recommendation letters.

I would be very cautious about the timing. Most ED schools will let you know around December 15. Many RD schools have application deadlines of Jan. 1. If I were a teacher, I would not appreciate being asked to write one or more recommendation letters in two weeks. Even if the application deadline is Jan. 15, I think it is rather impolite to impose on a teacher over the holidays like that. You may not get the letter you expect.

If you do want a different teacher for RD, I advise that you ask no later than Nov. 1 to give the teacher ample time to write the letter. But realize that some teachers may have already written or committed to writing all the letters they are going to.
