You're going to be surprised how humid it will be for those first couple weeks in September. :)

lol...sounds just like Louisiana :p

Fluffhead, yeah, I'm really good friends with claire! Looking through your pictures, I'm pretty sure I've seen you a round a bit :)

As for room 520, it was in my suite I believe.. if I remember correctly it was mid way in a hallway, on the hallway with the "outside" common rooms (the ones that look into the atrium). Beyond that, you're just going ot have to wait till september :)

Thanks a bunch, mnasy :)

Is it better to have an "outside" commonroom?

can someone elaborate on the single please? thanks :)

Personally, I loved having an inside common room (if you look at my pictures, the rooms literally open up into it.. it's kinda like having a living room.. but an outside has it's advantages (ie when it's late, you're trying to sleep, there's not people outside making tons of noise). They pretty much have the same things in them (table, chairs, fridge, stove), and the outside lounges are probably a little cooler temperature wise.. (and you most likely get better cell phone reception!)

If it says that the window dimensions are 49 x 55, then it's the big rectangle one, right? Not the tall, skinny one..

Bumping to answer some questions in another thread...

I just went there (to Hill) yesterday, and I could not find the entrance. Or if I could, I didn't know it was. So can anyone pls explain what the entrance is like?

there a two entrances, one across the bridge from the women's walk (the brick path cutting through the field that starts at 34th and walnut), and one down the flight of steps next to the aforementioned bridge

It's on the west edge of the building. There is a "drawbridge" (in reference to the moat) that leads into the building, and there's another entrance right below that.

I was also in Hill. I can vouch for the original description, it's completely accurate. Hill's only advantages are its sense of community and access to the dining hall. Everything else ranks as the worst among the campus dorms.

In terms of partying in your rooms, it's not possible. The rooms seriously are not big enough for more than 2 or 3 people at a time, unless you're really lucky and get one of the larger GA rooms. I had no problem pregaming with my roomate, because we were quiet and kept the door shut, but having a few people over to drink is impossible because of the room size.

One other thing: the dust. I was on the first floor and the room was absolutely filled with dust. It settled on everything and was probably a health hazard. Little balls of it would roll around the floor like urban tumbleweed. We kept the room fairly clean, so I really don't know where it came from. Any rug that you bring will end up being ruined though, by the end of the year.

I can vouch for the crazy amount of dust that you get in Hill, especially on the first floor. I was on the North Side, with Hill Field seperating my dorm from the street, and still got excessive amounts of road dirt in my room, and didn't have the option of closing the window because of the oppresive heat

Yeah, the dust is kind of disgusting... that part is certainly true.

However, I will once again say that we did throw parties on 3 separate occassions with more than 20 people in a Hill room at a time, and did not get caught. It IS possible... just not easy, and certainly not comfortable.

I had large groups of people in my room at Hill at times last year as well, but really, it's good to avoid doing that if possible. Whether you get caught or not largely depends on how strict your GA is (I was on the first floor, so the roving GA rarely came down), and how well-behaved your guests can be as they get more inebriated. As a rule though, it's really not a good idea to party in Hill, or do a whole lot else there for that matter.

bump.............

Hill is pretty fun.

that's all i got on the subject

i saw this @ school and wanted to read it when i got home.
