I believe that God created the universe but man was created through evolution.

What is CC's opinion on this topic???

I do not believe in god, thus I do not believe in creationism/intelligent design.

i believe in God..why u ask? pm me and we will debate through AIM. i studied evolution theories and found many flaws and ideas that are stretching the facts

...Another one these debates? I know it's fun, but this is never going to be resolved...

I personally believe that evolution did happen, besides the fact there is pretty much no proof for creationism versus the overwhelming evidence for evolution ;P

seriously, theres like a 12 page thread on this topic in the CC cafe to fill anyone's stomach...

Go look at the Origin of Life thread on the cafe and the How many of you believe in God thread here.

If there are flaws in Evolutionary Theory, it is because we are still searching and looking. Scientists didn't know germs could be spread through dirty hands, etc, but after some research, it was figured out.

How are Stories written in a 2000 year old book any more reliable than studied scientific facts?

Stretching the facts? If you have studied the Bible and how it was put together, and changed, and translated, and the people that decided what to put into it, and what was left out, and how it is interpreted differently by different sects and religions, you would see that stretching the facts applies much more to the Bible.

Believing in the Bible and its stories is totally based on FAITH. Nothing wrong with that, but call it what it is. FAITH.

I pledge to not post again on any thread regarding creatinism vs. evolution.

Creationism is a MYTH evolutionism is FACT. Simple.

Amystrangeglove, I understand why you believe that. However, it's ridiculous to make a statement like that about this issue.

Go read The Myth of Religious Neutrality.

Never seen a thread about this before...

While I think evolutionary theory is correct, it is quite ignorant to state that it has been proven at this point.

At the moment I believe evolution is the more correct of the two. There are volumes of things backing up evolution. While we only have a 2000 year old book to back up evolution.

However, I understand that evolution may not be completely correct. In fact, it is very likely that it is not completely correct. As science progresses, it will uncover new facts.

I am wary of these "new" ideas such as "intelligent design." It capitalizes on the fact that evolution doesn't explain everything. It explains the creation of the world as an act by god, and since evolution doesn't have a counter argument, the burden of proof is upon scientists to disprove this theory - despite the lack of proof behind this theory.

However, despite this, I am confident that science will eventually disprove it. I would have more confidence in the ideas of the church, but science has consistently proven the church incorrect in past disputes.

(1) I define God to be X.
(2) Since I can conceive of X, X must exist.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

from http://www.godlessgeeks.com/LINKS/GodProof.htm

I don't believe in "God" at least the Christian god. So I sort of believe in evolutionism. Evolutionism is the only thing that can explain such phenomenon. The Bible is for ethics and religion, so it may have such flaws. How can you trust the Bible? Only by faith.
For example in the Bible it says that Pi is 3, which is clearly wrong. So even if evolutionism is not entirely correct I believe in it for now. However, if a new paradigm of science comes I am not reluctant to give up evolutionism.

Thesloc : From the same site:

(1) That's really cool.
(2) God must have done that.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

This is such a great website! (At least for those looking to joke about God)

You were sarcastic, right? ^_^

time to post old posts...ready?

okay thesloc.....*** that site is fubar

thesloc, you do realize that you linked to a site promoting atheism, right?

I'm not going to enter one of these debates again. Go look up the "How many of you believe in God" thread if you're interested. Better yet, read The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins, who actually knows what he is arguing as opposed to most of the people here.

ARGUMENT FROM INTELLIGENCE
(1) Look, there's really no point in me trying to explain the whole thing to you stupid Atheists -- it's too complicated for you to understand. God exists whether you like it or not.
(2) Therefore, God exists.

Ahahahahaha why does this sound awfully familiar?
