Sending positive thoughts your way. Hope your family fared well in the hurricane and that things are getting back to normal.

About 420,000 people on LI are without power from the storm, I imagine that given her absence, she’s among those affected.

Sending well-wishes too…

Thanks for the well wishes, writestuff and hellodocks. We just got back power minutes ago. Wow, S’s move in was the least of our hassles. Got mom safely to a hotel in NJ (she fared very well under my care, I have to say). Her building was slightly flooded, not bad. I think the authorities learned from Katrina and wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Then, fo course, as most of you know, L.I. got hit very hard with power outages for around 3/4 of the population of most communities. Hubby was just staying put in L.I. so I cam back home “to take care” of him. Looking for emergency generators, etc to no avail because they were all gone th day before I started calling. (Was calling hotels for mom when the generators were still available).

Hope everyone is doing well and the “new ones” are moved in, as well as many of the returning students.

Writestuff, your D is in completely? My S’s suite is completely moved in. Now I have to take care of some big item moving this Friday with them.

Hellodocks, I gather you are moved in too?

Well wishes to everyone!

Evolving - so relieved to hear from you! Glad everyone is ok. D got moved in fine. I think a roommate switch is taking place and she has been talking to the “new” roommate and hopes it works out because they seem very compatible. No sign of the other suitemates and D was all alone all weekend, and of course, retail therapy was not possible because there were no stores open…probably a good thing for me! Good luck this weekend with the rest of your S’s move-in.

Glad to hear you’re safe and sound.

I came back around Friday afternoon around 4; I was here through the summer and didn’t change buildings, so I thankfully avoided the ‘upperclassmen cannot move in until the 30th’ rule.
