Hello people.. Well, exams start for seniors at my school next week, and I just cracked open the books tonight. I think I'll be fine, but I was just curious.. What helps you all get through exams? This could be both academic tips and pointers and just general advice.

I get through exams by waiting to the last minute, having panic attacks and raging through my books, flipping through pages and pages and hoping that the Gods of Osmosis are awake that night.

.............................so yeah don't be like me.

rbase...one thing you could do is hit up your buddies who take the exam before you, if that's possible, for what's on the test...try to recall the major concepts covered during the semester; there is only so much that your teachers can expect you to recall and put into practice during a time-limited test :)

Study your old tests - the chapter tests and worksheets and stuff, a lot of the time my teachers take the exact same questions from an old chapter test, and I'm like... ARGH, because I didn't think to look over it.

i never study by myself... i get in a group and talk to ppl. teaching is the best way to learn, and if ur not the one teaching, u have peers or friends to teach u... ppl who hopefully just learned it and have a much better idea of teaching it to u

things to do when studying: talk to the girls, practice pen spinning, copy hw, help each other about the subject, waste time

seriously. u have to make it good time, its better to learn that way, and u make more friends that way

You see for spanish part of the exam was to write a 50pt essay on MEXICO..i wrote it on PERU. Don't ask me why, i didnt read the questions cafefully enough. :(

My Exam Secret: I like to make posters of formulas and other notes and i stick them on the bathroom walls. I currently have maths formulas and sciency notes on the walls. When I need to go pee or poo, I take couple of seconds to memorise some formulas and read some notes. I have posters next to my bed, next to our computer, near the couches and on the pantry door.

I'm also a highlighter person. Whenever exam times come up, I buy a fresh batch of multicolor highlighters and pens. It makes my things so much easier to study off.

posters! what a great idea! ;) does it work? as for me, i tend to cram for the minor subjects (and even the major ones). at least a day before, i'm already going bald and screaming, 'WHERE'S MY NOTES? MY CALCULATOR? MY WORKSHEETS? MY PEN???!!!'.

So yeah, don't copy me. all you have to do is read... carefully and WHOLE HEARTEDLY. oh, and be optimistic. pessimists have a harder time on tests cause their attitude blocks most of what they studied out of their brain.

Yup it works great. I spend a lot of time in the bathroom because i drink so much damn water and I get put into situations where there's nothing to do except to read the posters or to look at the wallpaper.

Oh and I also have one by my mirror because I spend atleast 30min a day in total, in front of it.

The key trick to the posters is to make the words easy to read so you don't get sick of looking at some paper with thin-black-pen'd words. Use black thick vivid for forumlas and line them with different colord highlighters. Makes them pretty.

Today I was studying maths and I couldnt figure out one question so I decided to take a bathroom break and I accidently found the forumla that I needed on the poster lol.

I also stick post-it notes with 1 word and it's defintion around the house. It's easier with just 1 word on each post-it because they're stuck in places where I dont spend a lot of time in, eg on a door.

... the only thing that would be a drawback is the expression on your dad's face when he goes in the bathroom to poo and sees--instead of a newspaper--a post it note with a question like 'what is 'toilet' in Spanish?'. he'll go nuts. ;)

then again, i'm going to try ALL the tips here. (it has got to work better than what i usually hear)
