Regarding international programs, I thought that St. Paul’s School offered several options including (for boys) study at Eton in England.

I’ve alphabetized the list and added a few things I’ve found so far in my beginning research… some things we can probably delete; don’t all schools have some computer science classes?

I would add Millbrook has a formal sit down dinner once a week. And, in terms of exceptional offerings, having an accredited zoo seems pretty exceptional to me. It is integrated into to school, with most (all?) kids working there as part of their community service, and those who are interested continuing to work there. The zoo is working with several endangered species, and their reintroduction. For the right kid it’s a pretty spectacular opportunity.

Salisbury has formal sit-down meals 2x/week, chapel is required (2x/week), and it’s >90% boarding. Chapel includes “chapel talks” by students and faculty. There are Saturday classes every week. Three trimesters of philosophy/religion/ethics is required — 1 trimester sophomore, junior, and senior years.

WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

  • Westover

I’m a little confused by some of the categories—what is women in science and engineering? Is that a dedicated club? What about ethics courses; can those be like philosophy/global issues courses?

This list is soooooo out of date. Andover dropped Arabic a while ago.

@skieurope - I agree! That’s why I’m asking everyone for help updating it… :smiley:

What do you mean by “international programs” ?

WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

@CavsFan2003 - agreed! I just cut-and-pasted an old list in the hopes that we can put our heads together and edit it as needed.

When did L’ville drop Saturday classes? I think Peddie has them every week ( @carpoolingma ?)

George has film-making.

Millbrook also has Saturday classes.

Corrections on St. Paul’s:

  1. Saturday classes are every week, not occasional
  2. I'm not sure you'd qualify handshaking before vacation as a "group hug" @doschicos ??
  3. Chapel is required, 4 x week
  4. Seated formal meals are 3-4 per term
  5. Computer science - yes
  6. International programs - yes
  7. Science research program - yes

Other unique features/offerings to consider:

Living in Community - required class
Science on a sphere (SOS) system, sharing data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Observatory with the largest telescope in New England
Foucault pendulum that indicates Earth’s rotation
Engineering Honors Program
Classical Honors Program
Indoor rowing tank
2000-acre campus with 25 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and skiing

Someone offer me a job in SPS advertising!

Yes, Peddie has Sat classes every week.

Peddie:
Weekly Sat classes
Formal dinners are 1x/week.
Chapel talks (not religious) 2x/week
One-strike policy for major rules
Computer Science classes
Film and Video classes
Signature experiences in Advanced Research Science, Arts, Asian Studies, Creative Writing, Languages and Robotics
Robotics Team
Study Abroad

Please add to this @ Emma Willard has a dedicated Health & Wellness program with a residential option for students interested in Health & Wellness …nickname “The Wellies”

@carpoolingma I misread the weekly Sat classes as weekly SAT classes and felt a rush of anxiety… ?

@GoatMama That would have disqualified the school from our list! ?
