Not sure where to even look for this. My daughter will be a junior next year and is currently ranked at the top of her class. No doubt her career will evolve but for right now she is very interested in something like an Executive Assistant Administrator support type person. She has organizational and planning skills that are off the charts, she has teaching skills, marketing skills, is a wiz with Spanish and has almost a photographic memory. So I can see the opportunities for international business or a number of other things evolving. The way she explains it, is that she wants to be the person who is the right-hand-man to the person who is in charge of "everything" but she herself does not want to be the person who is in charge and responsible for "everything". (At least at this point she doesn't.) So do I suggest she go into pure business, Information Management, or something else?? She wants to go to college in the south where it's warm so I can help her focus there, but in what curriculum? I think this will evolve into something else, I just want to help her find the right place to start. Can anyone offer some advice?

If she just wants to be an admin assistant, why even bother going to college? :-x

The level of position she’s looking for does require a college degree (or extensive experience) but it’s odd to hear about a business student that wants to be No. 2.

She should major something in the liberal arts arena, preferably one that helps her developing strong reading and analytical skills. She should minor in something that would help the coffee talk – maybe art history? She should take a couple of courses in economics and finance, a course in music appreciation… etc. The point is, don’t be too focus on being someone else’s secretary at this moment in her life. Go and explore the universe.
