I applied to Exeter, Andover, and Deerfield for 9th grade for 2011. I was just wondering if anyone knew the acceptance rate for applicants requiring financial aid for Exeter and/or deerfield because they're not need blind.

@handan,
This year, 41% of those applying to Exeter are applying for financial aid. Since Exeter didn’t offer much financial aid last year, I’d guess that they would try to make up for it this year by being a bit more generous. I’d guess that Exeter’s financial aid acceptance rate would be around the same as it’s overall acceptance rate (which is 19%). I think it’s pretty hard to get in as a ninth grader at Deerfield (I read on this board that their ninth grade acceptance rate is 9%). Since they are not need-blind, Deerfield’s acceptance rate for financial aid applicants for the ninth grade I’d assume would be lower than 9%, which is pretty brutal. I don’t know the exact statistics for either school, though.

ifax: I think it was in 2009, not 2010 that Exeter was less generous with aid. My understanding is that they’ll give continue to give aid at about the same level as last year.

Honestly, if the school really wants you, your chance of getting accepted with FA is 100%; otherwise, the chance can be as low as zero.
