exeter decisions

I'm going next fall - class of 2010 :D

i was accepted yesterday by Exeter but i am probably going to Andover. for me, the Andover campus has a more open, welcoming feel to it...but they are both great schools. i consider myself very very lucky to go to either one.

In your acceptance letter, did you see they mentioned about four possible students? One is me.

samsam, everyone who gets the letter is the 4th student, that is how they personalize the letters.

accepted!
but I didn't get any FA, so I don't know how I will be able to afford it..

I thought Exeter was need blind...

Whoops. I know need blind means they accept you regardless of what your EFC is, which doesn't mean they'll give you as much FA as you need. By need blind I meant that I thought Exeter gave FA where it is needed.... I remember reading an article in the school newspaper featuring this accomplishment...

I do remember reading the article about Exeter becoming need blind, but if the SSS determines that a student's EFC is equal to the cost of the tuition and Exeter uses the SSS information, it may accept the student without FA.

Also, it is possible that when someone says they are not able to afford it, the family chooses not to spend or take a loan against its assets to pay for bs tuition right now.

Uh, I think I'm going to be attending next year, but won't make a final decision until after the second visit.

ExEteR class of '11
hee hee:D

Exeter All The Way....go Big Red....i Think Im Going For Sure....pea Rocks.

it is a little frustrating that EA is slowly filtering out information to the accepted students.Packages were late, postcards of congrats late, visitation process online a little impersonal.Hopefully this is not a reflection on how they communicate with parents. When you finally see the whole picture they seem very nice , but timing is a weak area.Borders on passive aggressive in the information age.By the way I like EA.

I know how you feel Francis

I just got a congratulations package-y thing from Exeter which included a personal, handwritten note from one of he history instructors; a signed postcard from the tour guides; and a letter to my parents. They're also considering my request for more FA. They're treating me pretty well, at least...

how much FA did you receive, tommeister?

that's cool! i only got the note from the tour guides.. what was the letter about? FA?

I think the note was just about teachers and stuff. I received a considerable amount of FA, but almost 5,000 more at Andover (+ a laptop)because of an endownment scholarship or something.

Yay! I got in too! Class of 2011..not sure if I will attend however...am dancer and musician and not sure how strong programs are

abkatdance, Exeter art programs are great, but SPS has an INTENSE dance program. If dance is a really strong passion you have, I'd say you could go either way but SPS's ballet program can't beat many other of the prep. schools in the nation.

we have gotten the acceptance package and then I got an email from my tour guide, a postcard from all the head tour guides, a letter from a family explaining their experience and a booklet with names of other parents you could contact, and today we got a handwritten note from the coach of the sport I will be going out for in the fall. I have been pretty pleased with the contact so far.
