oh hey tuesdays! same dorm whatup… so basically tuesdays and i are actually in the same dorm and we both came in as new sophomores. yup. i’m actually going to go to her room in a bit to bombard her to check CC.

i’ll answer some questions in the meantime.

student council is definitely present, but i wouldn’t say that it’s like flashy and like ridiculously dominating. it’s present in dorm representatives, class representatives, and the like. it’s pretty active here and stuco always works really hard.

exeter is a really diverse school! there’s definitely an active gsa that meets weekly. as a straight student i can’t exactly define the lgbt climate in the same way, but i know that the community is really accepting of all types of people.

despite what people seem to think, exeter students do have social lives! if you could be more specific about that question it’d be awesome, because “social life” is kind of a hugely broad topic.

theatre’s pretty good here; there’s a student-run drama organization called DRAMAT that puts on its own plays. their shows are really good! we’ve also had a bunch of really good plays. the winter play was sweeney todd! acapella groups are pretty fantastic on campus too - there’s the exeteras (all boys’), sans hommes (all girls’), in essence (an r&b girls’ group), and the peadquacs (co-ed group). there’s also a glee club.

exeter doesn’t necessarily have just an “international club” - there are a lot of different clubs on campus that represent different nations/countries. i’m part of ASEAN (association of south east asian nations) and there are also things like taiwanese american society, chinese student organization, middle eastern society - there’s just a lot of really different, cool groups.

day studs don’t really miss out on a lot of school life aside from the experience of actually boarding, but they participate in all other aspects like eating at dining hall for dinner (sometimes). i think day studs also have their own bonding experiences or something… i’m not entirely sure. but they’re definitely not left out! and sometimes day students drive to/from school, but others have their parents drive them, i guess. students aren’t allowed to leave campus with day studs unless it’s for a weekend and their parent is driving.

it’s not really hard to do homework with the internet off at 11. most of the time you won’t really need the internet to do a lot of your work - exeter work is mostly reading and analyzing texts and preparing for harkness discussions and stuff. you learn to really prioritize your work and work out what you’ll complete before the internet turns off and stuff. students have free periods during the day, but we’re typically able to get our work done at night. i personally use free periods to get ahead! you never know when you’ll suddenly like fall asleep on your bed and wake up at 12 am, finding yourself not having done anything (if you can’t tell it’s happened to me before)

i only answered some of the questions that i for sure knew how to answer. don’t think that i ignored your other questions!! :)
