fadedskyline-
are you on the east coast...because Im anxiously anticipating my exeter package and wonderin when it's gonna come : )
haha, I know...I'm a loser

the more i read about exeter, the more i like it. it looks amazing.

and i know, that folder. holy ****! haha.

"I'm a student at Exeter right now, and I hate the math program. It really only benefits students who are already strong at math. They assume you'll be able to solve problems yourselves, even though they are quite challenging. Learning fundamental math at Exeter is certainly not ideal. Luckily, I already took algebra and geometry before starting my prep year so i didn't have to worry about learning it at Exeter. Harkness just doesn't work for math classes"

Stop scaring away students Rebecca. :P

I'm also a student at Exeter...a prep, as many of you will soon be. The Math classes at Exeter can be quite challenging, I didn't actually have even a semblance of Algebra in middle school so I'm now in the lowest math class.

theindieprince, aka JAMES, its my opinion andddd argubaly, the truth. LOL

Oh I'm only teasing Ms. Rebecca. (:

To each their own, I suppose. The same is true of the entire Harkness Method, in reality.

haha, well I'm not a genius wiseman222. I'm taking algebra two right now, so I hope to get in a pretty high math class, but definitely not ready for calculus!

Tanyoosha, if you're taking Algebra II right now and you're entering Exeter as a prep, then you'll probably be placed into T3X, the highest math course a prep can take.
:)

^ Not necessarily...22X and T2X require completion of Algebra II as well I think

I got my formal acceptance letter in the mail today!! So exciting!!

yes! that black shiny folder with a silver lion.. (faints)

solstice, completion of Algebra II is not necessary for T2X

i was in t3x for a term; it does matter what your math background was but i think how good you are at thinking mathematically is more important in t3x. when i was in the course, some ppl who took precalc were dropped down to t2x while some ppl who only completed alg 2 stayed in it. also it depends on the year and how good at math the new students are.

Okay...my situation is a little different. I'm taking Geometry, but I haven't taken Algebra 1. Instead, I'm doing this Credit By Examination thing that I'm doing through my school. So what math class would I be likely to be placed in?

And wiseman, just wondering, but are you a guy or a girl?

i got into exeter too!!!!! go us!!!! :D
i was wondering that too padfoot! i mean wiseMAN, but...

padfoot-- i think alg 1 is math 1... not really sure

if you scroll down there is a guideline portion written by students and it talks about math experiences. its also the math 1 book so i guess you can look at some problems if you want to

haha, you guys and your math names are confusing me! :D

same...I think I'll just call up my cousin who's a senior there. :D

i was looking around the exeter website, the "exonian lingo" and its funny how exonians call andover people "smurfs" cuz their school color is blue! :D

BUMP! Haha...sorry, I'm just curious wise-man...

"Okay...my situation is a little different. I'm taking Geometry, but I haven't taken Algebra 1. Instead, I'm doing this Credit By Examination thing that I'm doing through my school. So what math class would I be likely to be placed in?"

If you aren't sure, I'd take the placement exam that they offer. I strongly regret not taking it, I'm currently in too low a math class. You have nothing to lose by taking it.
