Hey everybody! I was also wait listed at Exeter, but I’m Class of 2016. Maybe I was the only one who thought this, but in my head the wait list was a hundred people long per grade. Fortunately, it’s not. (My information source was my Dad) He thinks that there is ten to thirty people on the wait list per grade, which makes me feel a million times better. And on the second page of the wait list letter, it said anywhere from zero to fifteen people were given admission off the wait list. So, keep hoping, and stay strong! I know that I was super disappointed at first, but now I just feel so blessed to be on the wait list. The fight isn’t over yet, and the dream is still alive. Remember that(:

I wish I didn’t have to post here, but I was waitlisted for Exeter '16 too (needed full FA). I haven’t gotten the letter yet, though.

Yeah, I am kind of confused by the wait list, too. I was wait listed for the class of 2016. I’d still really like to be admitted to Exeter… but I don’t know what else to do while waiting to see my results!! I’m kind of stuck and I don’t know what further action to take for admittance… any suggestions?

There’s not really anything we can do, lailagirl. Keep up the optimism, but try to remember that schools like Exeter sometimes don’t take anybody off waitlists. Even when they do, only a few get off… the odds are definitely not in our favor. My personal plan is to just move on.

i’m honestly just treating my exeter '16 letter as a soft rejection- moving on, moving forward from now on. planned my summer, am starting new extracurriculars- i’m staying on the waitlist, but there’s little to no chance I’ll get off it. needed FA too.

^^Good Enough for Exeter but Without the Bucks to Pay for It ftw! I don’t know what I’m going to do next, though. Still trying to procure as many options as possible…

a.k.a. GEfEbW/Oda$$2P4It! heh. right now, I have these random moments of optimism, that something will click and something will happen, but I have to stay realistic, you know? @CherryRose, are you still considering online public school?

LOL the acronym! @98beebee, I don’t really know right now. My state online public school won’t let me accelerate high school, and even the cheapest private ones cost $10,000 minimum for the credits I need to graduate. My parents also think that I’ll turn into a hermit, but the biggie is college. Besides at Stanford’s EPGY and a few of the (most expensive) privates, the college matriculation lists aren’t exactly impressive.

Right now I’m rushing out an app to the Davidson Academy of Nevada, a semi-experimental public school on the campus of U of N at Reno. It’s literally a school for actual genii, so I’ll probably not even make the second round of interviews and all-day assessments. Still, I’ve got nothing to lose, so why not?

It’s good to hear that you have a plan, 98beebee. And optimism. But comfort food is even better ! Regretfully, I’ve actually gained a pound from that since M10.

Good luck with everything! You do have nothing to lose- just another app. optimism~ comfort food~ happy songs = I’m over it now.

I hope you make the best decision for you. Online, private, public- anywhere is what you make of it. <3

Awww!! I feel like a dork for being so optimistic. I guess I live in my own little bubble. But I still believe that I have a chance because it’s not over yet. For everyone who applied, Exeter has been a dream school, and getting a wait list (at least for me,) is still amazing! If you think about it, it’s HARDER to get onto the waitlist than onto the acceptance list. The committee saw something special in you, and it’s something you ought to be proud of. Think of the waitlist as another step to reaching your goal of admissions. Everyone had to go through SSATs, essays, recommendations, etc. Just think of the waitlist as another step, and it’ll be much easier to get through. PLUS, if you make it in, then you would appreciate getting into Exeter THAT MUCH MORE.

I heard in the previous years some people have gotten off the wait list in this coming week and even in the past week. Anyone heard of any movement yet?

Also, has anyone found out about how many Exeter has on its wait list for 2012/what are the chances of getting admitted off the wait list? I know everyone will say the chances are small but without FA and considering this current year stats may change. And no, I’m not betting on getting off the wait list, I understand the chances are small but I’m just wondering.

@preplife: There have been MANY queries exactly the same as yours- and answers- on CC lately. Just browse through the cork-boarded thread “Waitlist” at the top of the thread list, or even just look at previous posts on this very thread.

@preplife I’m estimating that Exeter will have approximately 80-100 people for all grades, but that’s just a guess. They say that the chances of admitting from the waitlist is anywhere from 0 - 15 people so just keep your fingers crossed! I haven’t heard of any movement yet (I’m on the waitlist myself) but I assume we have to wait until after April 10th when all of the accepted people have responded. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR :)

hahhaaha @liliann16. OHMYGOSH, I’m dying of laughter. I’m watching it tomorrow! CANNOT WAITT!(: Team Peeta or Team Gale? Personally, I’m Team Peeta. He had me with the “Well, there is this one girl. I’ve had a crush on her ever since I can remember. But I’m pretty sure she didn’t know I was alive until the reaping.”

@exeterhopeful16 i don’t like doing teams for books because it kind of ruins the other values in them - but in this case, i have to say i prefer Peeta he’s just so steady the whole way through ^-^

@liliann16 hahah exactly!(: Slow and steady wins the race. He’s not slow, but he sure is steady! I think we should keep this thread about the Exeter WL, so PM me instead(:

Last year there was waitlist movement at Exeter in July, even early August when actual tuition payments were due, and those who had sent in deposits had a change of heart. So my suggestion is to tuck in for a long wait and be ready to go for it if an opening comes your way in the summer. Anything earlier would also be nice!

Thanks for the info!!

Team Gale for the book, Team Peeta for the movie hahaha.

maybe the odds be ever in your favor! good luck!

@98beebee Oh Effie(: Katniss mocking her made me crack up, and everyone else in the theater was looking at me like I was crazy!(:

effie’s makeup and styling and actress and mannerisms- so perfect! ahhhh :)
