If a tree falls in the forest but no-one hears it, does it still make a sound?

If someone is unable to register for a couple of days because the old password doesn't work and it takes a while to get the new one and change it back to the old one but in the meanwhile one reads posts and gets tallied as a lurker, has one really existed on this plane during that time?

How is it that all this change occurred in the last couple of days but we all are shown as having joined in August?

How is it that my last post was shown as being at 6:16 PM, which must have put me somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic?

And finally, what does it mean that most of us are New Members but a few are Junior Members? Which is more prestigious? Which involves higher membership dues?

Greetings from currently somewhat foggy California.

You know, DAD (can I call you DAD for short?) you and I must be on the same wavelength..I thought of the "tree in the forest" analogy as well! LOL! Be proud of being a New Member..those ole Junior Members must have been a legacy parent or somethin' You still got in!! The GMT (time) I think from my ole' earth science days may refer to Greenwich Mean Time and I don't think they mean "Greenwich, Connecticut." Why do I insist on putting ole' in front of everything I say? I must be ole'. And tho the change occurred in the last few days and we still are listed as August joiners (except for me and some others who are listed as joining in October!!), I wish they wouldn't do that!!!! We as parents are so bent on what's supposed to be rather than what is...maybe we should come to terms with maybe time can be an interpretation of the truth as well. Now isn't that existential for ya'?

Greetings from Westchester County NEW YORK METRO

I think junior members are more prestigious, since Carolyn and Marite are both junior members and they are among the most experienced and wisest posters on here. I hope some day I grow up to be a junior member, too.

Sac, I think it is just that Marite and I talk a lot...or at least we post a lot. I'm trying to see how many posts it takes to make it up to Senior Member. But I will NOT be happy if I become an "Ole Member" as Sgiovinc would probably say. LOL!

Ooooo! Ooooo! We're going from the sublime to the ridiculous!!! LOVIN IT! If you want to pass on to IMMORTAL you need not "PASS GO" and you "DON'T COLLECT $200." I've lost it!!!!!

I'm still a newbie, and wonder if I should feel insulted. And yes, I think we're all posting from the middle of the ocean. On the old board the times were all one hour ahead since I'm in the central time zone, and I finally got used to converting that in my head. Now the times are 50 minutes behind me, so I just gave up trying to figure out cybertime here.

dadofsam, I think all the oldies from the old board were set up by the administrators in August, and the newer posters got tagged with October. And I think being a 'lurker' here is just a state of mind. Of course this may be proof of that "parallel universe" discussion we had last spring.

I don't care about hitting 'junior' status, I'm holding out for 'Queen.'
