Tulane is just rapping up the largest fund raising campaign in its history, which is called Promise and Distinction: The Campaign for Tulane. One of the major goals of this campaign is to raise Tulane's endowment up to over a billion dollars. Schools that are ranked well above Tulane, such as Brandeis, Wake Forest, and William and Mary, have much smaller or comparable endowments. If the school's admission is able to pull its crap together and get great students like the ones posting of Tulane's thread to come expect a huge jump in Tulane's USNews ranking. Remember the last time Tulane was evaluated by USNews its ranking the school's endowment was around the 600 million mark. The website has the endowment updated as of the summer, but did not factor this into this year's ranking since Tulane was not evaluated because of the hurricane. Personally, I believe a school's endowment is the number one indicator of its prestige. It basically reflects the schools wealth and the size of projects the school is able to take on as an institution. For anyone who knows much about Tulane feel free to add to my conjecture.

Sry I slaughtered with typos that post and its slightly hard to read; here's an amended version:
