Experience Colby?

I'm thinking about applying to the Experience Colby program next year, but all of the threads I see are saying it's a diversity program. Does this mean I need to be a minority to apply? This may seem like a stupid question, but I've also seen programs that have said outright that only minorities should apply, so I'm just wondering if this is one of those
Thanks!

I applied and got to go and I’m a white guy, so you don’t have to be a minority. With that said, I was one of a small minority of white people at the program. Whats even weirder is that in my interview the admissions guy said I would be accepted but I got waitlisted…

Also white, I did Experience Colby and I’m attending Colby in the fall!

So a question on the Experience Colby application is “Briefly describe (between 150 and 250 words) how your personal experiences would add to the diverse perspectives at Colby or describe your involvement in diversity efforts in your school or community”. What kind of diversity are they looking for? I’m white as well and I’m really trying to get into Experience Colby because it’s my only way of visiting. So I really want to ace my answer.

I feel like they may be talking about diversity in any way, shape, or form. Socio-economic, geographic, etc etc.

Diversity also means experiences, basically what experiences you have had that you can bring to the table that others may not have had. Anything unique about you or the culture you grew up in. Anything to add to the conversation of what it means to be you.

I attended one of these for my current school, William and Mary, and it was the best decision ever. Although I am not a minority in the typical sense (most other people were URM and such) it was an eye opening experience, and you got to see the campus in a totally new way. And plus I got to say overnight with a host, which wasn’t usually offered to incoming freshman. So definitely apply!
