Experience in Astrophysics Major

If I get accepted to the astrophysics program, what am I to expect? When reading many of the course descriptions on the astrophysics website, it seems as if many of the courses are geared towards non physics majors and may not have very much math, and does this major do a good job in preparing students for a phd in physics?

I was once interested in the astrophysics program as well. I can’t help much, but from my searching around it naturally seems/has to have a lot of math. Since, at least on assist.org, it’s called “physics (astrophysics)”, it’s very well geared for physics majors. The school is very well-known for their astrophysics program, it’s top in the country, if not nation. UCSC and NASA Ames also have a contract together, so some students get to go over there for research.
