My daughter sort of unexpectedly fell in love with Westy and is about ready to commit. I don’t see it discussed here much, and I sort of wonder if something is wrong with it that I’m not seeing? Beautiful campus, matriculation looks strong, seems like a warm community, good sports, not too much pressure. She plays lacrosse, very social. Love if anyone can provide insight!
Westminster in CT? (Vs Westtown in PA…)
It’s on the smaller side which may explain fewer folks here . Knew a faculty family there quite a few years ago. They loved the tight knit community, and their kids got a great education. My sense, perhaps wrong, was that it had a more traditional feel than some.
If your D loves it, great! I am unaware of grumblings about dissatisfaction.
If you are tryng to find the warts, you can talk to current families and ask what conversations they’ve had about politicies they’d liked changed. They might matter to you or not. Past ones at our school were around rules for athletes who played on non-school elite teams, for example. My ears would have perked up if my kid might have been affected…
I don’t have a student at Westy but I live close by and it’s a great place. Your daughter sounds well suited for it also. My daughter chose a different school just because she didn’t want Saturday classes and the Westminster after school requirements wouldn’t allow her to train in her sport year round. But those aren’t negatives, just preferences.
