I’m sorry, I’ve been a CC lurker for years and this is the first discussion I have ever started here. But I just got accepted to Westminster in CT! I just want to know if anyone else here is going too. I’ve been looking at the Acceptance Master list and stuff and so far I have yet to find anyone saying, “I GOT ACCEPTED INTO WESTY!!! WoHoo!” Is anyone here planning on going there? I know it was a tough year ( 1 student accepted out of every ten applying ), sadly some of my close friends got waitlisted and others were flat out rejected. But I haven’t really seen many people commenting on Westy. Also, if you are planning on going… what do you like most about Westy? My family and I love the sense of community at Westy. Everyone there was so nice. Oh, and if you don’t plan on going but were accepted what don’t you like about Westy compared to the school you plan on going to? Furthermore, if anyone reading this is already at Westy… Do you have any advice for incoming 3rd Formers?
Thx to all for reading this! I hope to meet some of you in the fall! Oh, and how did your Westy revisit day go? My revisit was today! I felt so comfortable and the girls I shadowed were really nice. I wish all of you reading this the best!
Congratulations future Martlet! My child is currently enrolled and is very happy at Westminster. It is very much a close-knit community where everyone knows each other. My child is a day student and I feel as though I know most faculty and students in my child’s form just from sports and drop off/pick ups. I believe there are only about 80-90 freshmen, with more being added for the sophomore year. There is definitely a feeling that the faculty knows you and looks out for your best interests. Only thing my child ever really complains about is the food (on some days), but there are places that deliver sushi and pizza to the school. There is a big construction project underway to build a new dining hall and student union. The plans look amazing. The dorms are large and newer (except for Milliken, which houses freshman boys and is pretty old). It really is a beautiful campus. Most of the folks on this site talk about the larger prep schools, so schools such as Westy don’t get mentioned much. There are definitely different social groups at Westy, but all respectful of one another. We are also very happy with all of the teachers and curriculum so far. Very challenging but not overwhelming; a really great balance. If you have any specific questions about the school, feel free to ask. Congratulations again! You will not be disappointed.
Thank for responding! I’m always happy to learn more about Westy. I’m glad that you mentioned the diffrent social groups. I kind of noticed that on my revisit day but as you said everyone is definitely respectful of each.
I’m an alum and loved every minute at Westy. Still very close with my classmates and faculty. Wish my kids had wanted to apply.
