What does equating mean? Because even if it's verbal or writing experimental it apparently is still called equating? im confused.

From the CB site: "In addition, there is one 25-minute unscored section, known as the variable or equating section. This unscored section may be either a critical reading, math, or multiple-choice writing section. This unscored section does not count toward the final score, but is used to try out new questions for future editions of the SAT and to ensure that scores on new editions of the SAT are comparable to scores on earlier editions of the test."

So one section you take for the test everytime is not counted? Awsome.

"In addition, there is one 25-minute unscored section, known as the variable or equating section."

Does it really say that on the CB site. How the hell are they going to use the data obtained on those sections if they don't even score it? :)

Unscored, as in you don't get a score on it.. they still run your answers and send them off to somebody at ETS who crunches the numbers and decides whether the questions are good

it just sounded funny :)
