Are experimental sections usually harder than the regular ones?

That’s what I’ve been told, but I failed to detect which one it was.

I’m pretty sure it was a reading section (I think I had four of those)

I also have a question - is it possible to have different experimental sections (like 1 person could have math exp and another a CR?)

yes. i had a writing experimental.
one was extremely hard and the other was sorta normal
i couldnt tell which of the two was the experimental bc it was back to back

Everyone who takes the SAT on the same date has the same experimental section.

I dont think so, bc ive had people telling me that they had extra sections in math and reading. and i know for a fact that mine was writing. so im pretty sure they’re all different.

I am pretty sure that they have 3 different possible tests for each testing date: one w/ math experimental, one w/ writing, and one w/ reading.

I am pretty sure My D had writing as experimental. She thought one was much easier than the other. For her, the more diffcult one was the second wrting section.

my experimental was math. I’m happy about that. i mean it’s better than if it’s something else.

i had writing experimental. i wish it’d have been math, though!
and different people have different experimentals

2- CR(25 qs)
3- M(Grid-ins)
4- CR
5-M
6-M
7-W
8-M
9- CR(18qs)

This was the order on my test. I guess that 5Math was experimental, bc it seemed somewhat harder to me. Did anybody else have this order of sections on their SAT?

My daughter had Math experimental (we think). She said she had 4 Math sections in total, and two of them were back-to-back. She found one of them much harder and said she left a lot of questions unaswered. I sure hope it was in the experimental section!!

Different people can get different experimental/equating sections on the same test day. The CB used to have an “after the test” link with the breakdown of the various sections but I can’t find it since they reorganized the site. Anyone find this yet?

^ If somebody finds the link, please post it here.

it is difficult to say that an experimental section is hard or easy but it can be said for for sure that they are odd and are meant to test future type of sat questions

^Although some questions are being tested for future use, the main purpose of those sections is to equate this test with older tests so that a score of 600, say, means the same thing no matter when you take the test. This is done by repeating questions that have appeared before in these non-graded sections. Since all questions types need to be covered, different equating sections are used (some people will get a math section, others reading, others writing).

I had a math experimental and one was definitely a little more difficult than the other.

i had a math experimental but i didn’t notice a difference in difficulty between the two that were back to back. hmmm…
