Is there ever a need to explain an award, or do adcoms already know the prestige/difficulty of each award? The one I have in mind is Math Prize for Girls - I placed in a trophy winning position this year, but I'm nervous that because it's a pretty new competition and because I didn't qualify for USAMO, that Ivies might not know about it and thus my math ability may not be well represented. (I don't have the same problem with MIT, because they host the competition and they have a place for my AIME score.)

As there isn’t room on the EC list for a detailed explanation, you might want to include a website link for your award as your explanation.

BTW: If MIT hosts the competition, Harvard Admissions is probably aware of it.
