Hello. I am trying to transfer to a school in the spring of '05 but I was told my transfer counselor to submit a letter on why my grades are bad (which they were, for numerous reasons)…i.e; death in the family, family illness, and extensive traveling…How would I go about writing a paper like that?? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

<p>Honestly? Give your explanations, but don't make excuses. Taking responsibility for your poor grades is as important as the explanations, even if you feel they are justified. Think about if you were the adcom - what would you want to read about a student who had not worked to their abilities and then write what you would want to read if you were on the other side of the table.</p>
