My father won't be booking my flight to LA for ExploreUSC with his credit card, so my only other option is to ask a friend to do it (and pay her back.)

Do you guys know how they reimburse you for the flight? (I'm talking about what they said when they wrote they would pay you back $60 for CA/NV flights and $200 for other flights.)

Is it a check? Does the money go straight back to the card you booked it with? I'm wondering so that I can explain to my friend how it will work. Is there anything else I should know about essentially borrowing someone else's credit card to book my flight and shuttle?

I'm not sure if these are dumb questions but I don't have an adult to ask and I've never dealt with credit card business! Thanks in advance.

Two years ago when my son went, they gave us a reimbursement form to fill out and we turned that in with a copy of the receipt for the flight. A check was mailed to us about 30 days after Explore. I imagine the process is the same now.

If you book your flight through the USC travel agency that is mentioned in your Explore USC invitation, they will charge the cost of the flight less the reimbursement to the credit card – so the only amount you will owe your friend is the amount not covered by USC. (The travel agency does, however, charge a booking fee – so you have to decide whether that expense is worth not having to wait for a reimbursement check.)
