Exploring MBA

Just a basic question but is work experience required for all mba programs? Is it not possible to go straight from undergrad to an mba program?

Short Answer: Yes, work experience is required.

Long Answer:

There are a lot of lesser programs that allow students to go straight from undergrad to get their MBA. Two of my brothers did this and I would NOT recommend it at all. Just look at the average salaries and it's pretty pointless to even waste time going to those schools (IMO).

Students at most top schools generally have an average of 5 years of work experience. The average at some top schools may be 4 years (ie Stanford). An average lower than that (ie 3 yrs or 2 yrs) generally indicates a lesser program.

Despite what I have posted, there are some exceptions. Certain top schools will allow a top notch undergrad into the program (it would have to be for a very compelling reason though) and some good schoos have ways for undergrads to move directly into the grad program. However, overall these opportunities are rare, and in most instances it's probably a better idea to get the work experience anyways.
