Extended essay question

For the extended essay on the supplement part of the app i decided to write about comparing plato to play-doh

i just started writing my essay and am around 3/4 of the way done with the rough draft but i feel that its very ordinary. i basically compared each using details like the malleability of play-doh, how it can never run out to the immortality of the human soul...

im not really sure if this is what they are looking for or if the essay will be to typical and boring. So do the extended essays have to have a story or can they just answer the prompt i guess?
