The following appears on the Harvard Transfer Common App Supplement:
“Did any time elapse between high school and college or have you left any school or college voluntarily for an extended period of time?”
If you answer yes you are prompted to give a detailed explanation - 500 character max.
I took two gap semesters (winter of 15 and winter of 16), for good reason, which I explain pretty well in the Common App “education interruption” section, which has a 250 character max.
My question is twofold: 1) is a single semester, twice, an “extended period of time”, and 2) if so, do they want something different from the section on the common app? Or just more about it?
I don’t consider myself a nontraditional student, but I can elaborate on the gap semesters if needed. Perhaps I should just contact their admissions office and ask them?
