Extenuating Non-Custodial Parent Circumstances

I agree with thumper1.

This is what happened with my friend’s daughter with FA at CMU. My friend went through a bitter divorce. The ex-wife was relentless on going after him and also prevented him from seeing his kids. He paid the alimony and child support on time and tried to see his kids as much as he could. When his daughter was admitted to CMU, she asked my friend to fill out FA application. My friend refused because he did not want his ex-wife to have access to his financial situation (he had a bit of windfall from previous investment that came about after the divorce). My friend’s daughter ended up getting 40-50K/year FA based on mother’s income and assets. My friend is paying for his daughter to attend the college (above FA) even though he did not want to fill out financial information. I do believe CMU uses CSS.
