Extra College Credit in Highshool

Hi! I'm a junior in highschool and I was offered a opportunity to get 3 collge credit for college algebra. If I take it will Tulane accept it? Also, will this help me to get into the Creative Premedical program at Tulane?

Thanks

College credit as in Dual Enrollment at a local public university? If that’s the case, then I don’t believe Tulane accepts such credits. However, a 4 or a 5 on an AP course will count for credit at Tulane.

You will have to check with the Tulane administration about that. I really don’t know, but of course Diomedes is correct that scoring high on the AP will address that issue anyway. I think he is also right that they won’t accept the credit if you take it while in high school, but only Tulane can tell you for sure. Send them an e-mail with a copy of the course description and the name of the school where you are taking it.

I don’t think this will make any meaningful difference as far as the Creative Scholars Program. You don’t apply for that until your sophomore year, and your Tulane record will outweigh other factors. It will only help to the extent it shows initiative and challenge, but only if that is a general theme in everything you do. One course won’t mean a lot.

Thanks for the advice Diomedes and fallenchemist.
