"Extra Credit"

One more question. How often do applicants submit extra materials into their applications, such as videos, writing samples, or anything else. Do colleges like to see this or is it just a nuisance? PLeae help.

Be reasonable about any extra materials. Only send them if you think the application is really missing without it. I know of very few people from my high school who sent such things. Those who did were mostly musicians as well as a few people with handicaps (one was near blind, for example).

I think it's a good thing to do if you're into any kind of art, or have anything you think is really important that will help them see what kind of a person you are. I personally will be sending photographs with my applications.

im going to be sending a recording of a few of my compositions/performances. why not?

I think applicants rarely send in stuff like this. This only seems to apply for music/art majors. You should call the universities to ask though...
