I dont have very many extra curricular activities.. no sports. not an officer of anything. i just moved to california beginning of my junior year from utah and i dont know very many people. I was wondering if i played football next year for varsity and ran track this year would colleges still look at that or would it be too late? Any ideas of extra curricular activities i can do to make me stronger in that area?

Better late then never, right? Some extracurriculars that I suggest you join, if your school has 'em, include FBLA/DECA, debate, and MUN. Of course these are the most basic and common of clubs. Better yet, make a club! Become the founder/president of your club, make signs to promote it or something. Be proactive! Good luck.

ECs don’t have to be school-related in any way. They can be hobbies, jobs, church involvement, or any activity in which you have invested yourself and to which you have a personal commitment. That said, joining some activities at school this year is a great way to make new friends and shows that you are an active member of your school community. It isn’t ‘too late’ to do anything you enjoy. You aren’t trying to be a recruited as an athlete so whatever you pick is fine.

When I didn’t have much time for EC’s I volunteered online for 3 different organizations. There is a website onlinevolunteering.org where you can pick an organization you like, an activity you would like to do and the amount of time you wish to spend on it. Some of the organizations listed there are really cool, for example, I volunteered for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, it didn’t take much of my time and I did the job whenever it was convenient for me. And they also award an official certificate when you are done. Hope this will help:) Good luck!
