Hello CC’ers,
Going to MIT as an under-grad is a wish that became a dream. I cannot do anything about it now; however, after four years of my college I wish to go to MIT for Graduate studies. Apart from learning about GRE, I really want to know what things I could do that would make my case seem to be extra special?
I am really interested in writing either blogs or book on certain topic(s).
I hopefully will be on Basketball team for my college (NIT Jaipur).
I’ve previously done classroom-based research.
Any ideas to help a brother out?
Thanks again!
@KaranMIT I haven’t applied to graduate school yet (not really planning on getting a Ph.D.) but from what I’ve heard, strong grades, excellent rec letters and research experience are probably most important (as well as test scores).
Because it is so selective, and because I presume that is 3 or 4 years down the road, I suggest holding off a bit. Things might come up, or you might have different plans post-graduation.
@MITer94 Thanks a lot for your response. It truly means a lot. I know all these things matter the most, but where do I get my research experience from? The university I am attending, in my experience, doesn’t conduct any research in the field of Engineering. You must have heard of IIT? If yes, then NIT is just a bit below that. It’s the best I can get into.
Have a good day.
I feel like most major universities that don’t specialize in a vastly different field (E.g. music, theatre, history) should have some sort of research opportunities for undergrads.
