Extra curricular and club questions

i have a question about my ec stuff. during freshman year i joined keyclub and did do a few hours but i don't do anything else in there anymore because of time. during second semester of sophomore year i joined California Scholarship Foundation and did do some hours but i did not meet the required 16 hours i was suppose to have by the end of the semester. during junior year i continued to volunteer in CSF and met the requirement both semesters. During senior year i plan on getting 2 more semesters worth of community service. i think that i have not joined enough clubs. do you guys think i should join national honor society during my senior year or is it too late

Excerpt from the book counselor:

[quote]
Even senior year isn't too late to create an appealing passion. But the older your child is, the more likely you'll have to select a more obscure and targeted passion.
...Sample senior year passions could include industrial photography, art appraisal, bioengineering, American Indian music, religious architecture, Russian classic fiction, econonomics of Africa, opera costume design, number theory, neuropsychology, medical history, international food management, etc.. Find college-level courses, programs, and after-school internships that will give your son and daughter expertise in the area in which he or she chooses to develop a passion. Have your child join related organizations that focus on that passion - even in senior year- and make sure your son and daughter participates in some of that organization's activities in the early fall.

but where can i find these internships or organizations to join.

it depends on what your interests are. i emailed researchers from labs [about 40] and got a few positive responses and now im working at one of them. =]
just be on the lookout for things and call up people [anywhere your interested: DA's office, museum etc] and ask if they take high school interns. the worst they can say is no.

What is "industrial photography"? Neuroeconomics would be cool. Competitive eating is definitely a niche passion. =O
