Extra Rec Letters

Hey Guys,

Just had an interesting question...

I'm currently an intern at a local university that I'm planning on applying to. Would it help my chances at all if I get a letter of rec from the prof that I'm interning at. (It would probably be one of my better if not my best letter as this prof knows me very very well.)

In general, do outside letters of rec look good? Do colleges consider them less/equal/more than teacher recs?

Thanks in advance!

It depends heavily on who the recommendation is from. If it’s from one of their own faculty members, it will be viewed quite highly.

Yes I think you should get a rec from that prof. I don’t know what colleges would consider it (better, worse, equal), but like amarkov said, if it’s from within the university, sounds like a good bet!
