Extracurricular Activities short answer

Hey all, just a quick question!

For the box to elaborate on extracurricular activities (1000 char max), what's the guidelines on how to write that? Ideally, I'd like to elaborate on my musical awards and accomplishments, since I feel those are my strongest points and there really isn't a lot of room to list them on the extracurricular activities page. But I feel like putting a bio or talking about honors in the "elaborate" box would sound really pretentious or haughty, whether it's in first or third person. At the same time, I'm not just going to leave out state/national/int'l recognition since there doesn't seem to be any other place to put them on the CommonApp. How do applicants usually go about this?

Thanks! I'll try to answer yours if I can!

Do you have a separate activities sheet? It can include all your activities, honors, community service, etc. You can upload the whole thing on Common App (there’s a place for that). If you’re not sure what this is supposed to look like, ask your guidance counselor. Our HS has samples in the guidance office.

Then, for the EC short answer, pick one activity and explain what it means to you, how it has affected you, some special aspect of accomplishment in that area - something that is more than just telling what you did - which may be listed elsewhere.

I hope this helps.
