Extracurricular Help

I am currently a junior and have been doing marching band since my freshman year. I am now sick and tired of it and now want to do something else. I definitely want to take up a new thing (job/volunteering/tutoring/etc.) after the season is over and want to do so my senior year also. I want to give up marching band - it’s getting annoying.

But I have heard that colleges like when a student takes up an activity for several years (shows passion/consistency) but band is not my passion and I feel like it is a waste of time. I don’t absolutely hate it…but I don’t want to continue.

So should I just quit and not do it my senior year? Would it hurt my college applications?

BTW: I am referring to top colleges

Not necessarily. Do you have other ECs that you have been with for a while, or something in mind to replace band? It would be understandable for you to drop band in order to spend more time on an activity related to the area in which you want to study in college.
