extracurricular profile

whats considered a good college extracurricular profile for the purposes of landing a job. 2,3,4,5 activities? what kind of leadership positions are important? If anybody on here who's either currently doing inbanking or who has done it in the past could weigh in on their college extracurriculars it would be appreciated.

What year are you? Work experience will beat almost all activities.

internships and study abroad. and maybe 1 or 2 worthy EC.

High quality IB experience and foreign languages trump virtually all ECs.

^ sweet. Which foreign languages are good? How would spanish (its my native language) and german ( at a decent level) be regarded?

Spanish, not so useful. German will be much better.

Meet Your New Recruits: They Want to Eat Your Lunch

The only activity even remotely as important as work experience or perceived intelligence and general likeability is a varsity athlete. President of a fraternity would also look pretty good, but activities aren't going to help you get a job any more than that they make you a more interesting person.

I'm not sure what languages are in demand in the Americas region, presumably Portuguese would be the most beneficial at this point in that region of the world. Doesn't half of America speak Spanish? It doesn't seem to be particularly 'special' over there. In the EMEA region Russian, Arabic and Chinese are the most sought-after languages right now. German and French are nice to have, but they are like Spanish in the US -- extremely common second languages and not special at all.

This year in EMEA if you attended a target and spoke Russian you were likely to get interviews with virtually every bank that was hiring.
