I am currently a junior in high school. My freshman year, I won 1 award in a dance competition (3rd place out of all the western states). My sophomore year, I won 2nd place in the same dance competition plus state champions for an FBLA event. This year, I was unfortunate not to win any awards in any of my extracurriculars. Will this affect my chances of getting into a good college?
No
How about a top college like UVA or UCDavis?
That answer given above won’t change.
Colleges will see:
@debbyharry1 has a demanding dance EC that s/he has put many years of effort in and has won regional awards.
Also they have won state awards at the same time for FBLA. This is awesome!
I don’t think they are keeping up year by year…I would however be looking for leadership opportunities.
That could be captain of the dance team or teaching little kids dance. It could be Pres of FBLA or organizing an event for FBLA or many other things.
I’m president of a club I created with a friend on campus as well
I’m not an officer in FBLA (largest club on campus and officers pick their close friends to hold officer positions)
only 5 awards are allowed on the common app whereas 10 activities and their length are noted. I think they care more about how much you’ve dedicated to the activity in general instead of if you’ve won an award every year
