I just joined a club this year and I was wondering if I should put that on my application? Also, I only did community service day in 10th grade however I do intend on doing it this year. Should I put that i did it 10th and 12th grade? Also I published articles to a website this year, should I put that as well? I feel like it doesn't show very much passion.

For those schools that care, they want to know what your ECs show about you, and what you would contribute to the school community. One day of service a year isn’t worth mentioning. It doesn’t say anything. If you joined a club, that’s fine. Not very interesting, but better than nothing. As for publishing articles to a website, that could be quite interesting if you care about the topic and have some expertise in the subject area, which I assume you didn’t acquire overnight. Tell us more about that.

Ok thanks a lot!

I’ve always been told that colleges want to see the things you’re dedicated to. A lot of students I know are tempted to post every little activity they’ve ever done, but that usually begins to sound a bit desperate. Focus on the things you’re most passionate about and most invested in. To me it sounds like the club and website articles would both be worth mention.
