I really want to do extracurriculars and sports, not only because they’ll look good on my college applications, but also, I genuinely do want to partake in different activities and get involved more, However, I can’t do them because I don’t have a ride to these things and need to rely on late school buses. I want to volunteer and join clubs/sports, but I don’t have access to transportation, and I’m worried about my “activities” in the college applications. How can be more involved in extracurriculars despite these restrictions? (Btw, I’m a junior in high school). Thanks in advance.
If you want to play a sport, you should make sure you know people in it and preferrably someone who lives close and can give you a ride everyday. This requires a lot of coordination, however. I am sorry, but there is not much you can do. Try to study for scholarships and competitions at home like DECA, FBLA, Science Olympiad, MathComp, Ethics Bowl, National History Day, and then attend the competitions and get recognition. This shows dedication to an activity but most of the time you won’t need a ride.
