Extracurriculars?

On the first "essay", where you have to list your extracurricular information, are we suppose to describe them in detail or just list them?

You list them in the format it says above. If you want to expand upon them or explain them (or special circumstances) you can do so at the bottom but you're not supposed to write a paragraph about it.

Read the directions FULLY:
"If there is an activity you would like to highlight, please tell us about it in a few sentences at the bottom of your list. "

ok...i think I'm just nervous and want to do everything correctly. So, for my first one...

Spanish Club; Co-President; Grades (11, 12); 4 Hrs/Wk

Something like that?

That's pretty much just what I did (ED). So yeah, good luck!

Maybe include what grades you were co-president of...
like this:
Debate Team; Captain (10th-12th grade); Grades 9-12; 3 hours/week

Yeah I understand being nervous but just remember that it just has to be understandable by the deans and get somebody else to read the directions (in addition to you) and make sure you are complying with them.

Best of luck!

Thanx....appreciate it

That way didnt make sense to me. I just described each one as I listed them. If I described them at the bottom I would have ended up listing everything twice...now Im scared that theyll be angry with me...

O i think it says to just describe one at the bottom

Yeah, qrd I would do it as they said. I would think doing it Sigma's way would do more harm than good as it's completely ignoring directions.

UGH ***. That can't seriously affect anything can it?

I'm not sure if it would seriously affect anything but I personally would stick to the format they ask you to use. If you already submitted your app don't worry...worrying wont solve anything.

Maybe call the office of admissions?

Yeah I already submitted. I think calling would just bring attention to what I did wrong. What an irritating format...

Sigmacentauri, check out Dean J's blog. She has an entry kind of about what you're going through. I don't think it will affect anything. I mean do you really think that a simple formatting mistake is going to affect the decision?

Here's the link:

And for any future applications, it might be wise just to follow the directions, no matter how "irritating" you may find them.

Yeah, don't misinterpret what I said earlier. I meant it would'nt be wise to ignore directions as it couldn't do any good...this doesn't mean what you did will do harm as the goal of application is to make it easier for the deans to read.
