extracurriculars

I'm a junior and thinking of applying to clemson, usc, and unc
does anyone have any suggestions for extracurriculars and out of school projects that will make my application stand out?

I wouldn’t worry about trying to stand out, if I were you. My advice would be to pick something you’re really interested in, and pursue it, for your own enjoyment, not because of college applications.

thanks! right now i volunteer at the childrens center and the animal shelter, which are both activities i enjoy and look forward to doing

i was thinking or starting some kind of project relating to these activities, which would be something that i’m interested in, and i could also put it on my application, because my ec’s are kinda empty

Those things sound interesting. I don’t know anyone who works in an animal shelter or children’s center. Anyways, extracurricular activities, even if they stand out, aren’t necessarily going to get you in. I think college admissions people focus on the whole application and try to get a sense of whether they think you’ll fit into their college.
