Hi guys, I am new to this but am feeling very anxious. I asked my previous biology teacher for a LOR and she said it wouldnt be entirely positive because im not mature enough or have no integrity. I worked very very hard for the class hours a night, participated, showed up everyday, pulled most of the weight in a hard group project, and went to office hours. I dont know what i did wrong but now im extremely terrified to ask my organic chemistry teacher for a letter. Maybe i do something unconciously that my teachers dont like.
btw i loved my biology teachers class and loved her and always said she was a good teacher when everyone said she wasnt. I got an A in her class and organic chemistry.
Am i worrying too much about asking again.
Please help Ive stayed up late nights crying every night for weeks now, I feel rejected and defeated.
Can you make an appointment to discuss with your counselor? Are you a junior or a senior? Have you thought about asking another teacher? You can tell this teacher thanks but no thanks. You most likely do not need a recommendation from this specific teacher - you can find someone who agrees to write a recommendation without the caveats this teacher gave you.
Have you had any disciplinary action at your high school? Or outside of school?
never been in trouble for anything.
i am a sophomore in college, I know a teacher i would like to ask but am just very nervous that i will get denied again.
Ok, so you are looking to transfer colleges? Or do you need an LoR for another reason? Are you sure you are telling us everything? A teacher making a charge of lack of integrity for no reason seems odd. Did you ask this teacher what they were talking about?
If you do want to transfer you will need at least one LoR…so you will have to get over your fears and ask another teacher. You might also discuss things with your academic advisor, or transfer advisor (if you are at a community college).
Good luck.
Oof I’m sorry. That must make you feel terrible. And I understand your nervousness about putting yourself out there and asking someone else.
I think your best bet is to speak with your academic advisor about your best next moves. That person might have some insight none of us could add. Good luck, and try to stay positive. You’ll get there!
Asked my organic chemistry teacher and he said hed be happy to!!! Im so happy!!
My organic chemistry teacher said yes!! Im so happy thank you for your help(:
