Extreme Students in Your School

The guy that graduated last year who now goes to Stanford got a 100% on his midterm in his chem 31 accelerated class.

The valedictorian from my school’s class of 2010 ended up at MIT. First person from the county to go there.

My history teacher’s education is more surprising though. He went to either W&M or W&L with a scholarship because his guidance counselor told him he wouldn’t get into an Ivy school. He then got a master’s from Yale where he met his wife (who is the French teacher at our school now). Then he got a Master’s from Cambridge while his wife got one from Oxford.

There’s a kid who’s in my gym class that has showed up twice so far this year.

The teacher has a recurring joke as he does attendance, walking by the empty spot and still saying the kid’s name.

^ In my math class, there
s this kid who shows up maybe twice a month, just so he won
t completely flunk out (pretty sure he has like a 1 though) but he always just sleeps in the back. I forget about him until he shows up.

A guy I know once had a 0.17 GPA on his report card (he had a D in woodshop or something). His cumulative GPA was maybe a 1.0. He’s a cool guy and not unintelligent; he just has a lot of trouble concentrating and never does his homework.

A guy is an IMO Gold Medalist. I think that beats everyone else ;)

At my high school - we have many many kids that are considered “extreme” by some standards. Like for example we have a freshman that is enrolled in the Calculus 3 class in our school. By sophomore year he will have to take a math class at the local CC.

Another kid in our school, who is a junior this year, completed AP Physics and Calculus 3 last year as a sophomore. He even managed to place for the USAMO and placed in 1st for his category at state for Math Team.

This is not “so” extreme, but I’ll share it anyway!

One senior last year received a full ride to Boston University. He them proceeds to stop caring utterly about schoolwork and does nothing. The school suspends him for “senioritis.” :)

The girl ranked second in my class has a 4.6. I don’t know about the girl who will be graduating valedictorian. I’m ranked third. With a 4.367. That shows the gap between the two who do anything to get ahead and the ones who are average advanced students. If you ask my class, I’m “supposed” to be right up there with them. They expect me to compete with these two girls. But I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t really care as much as I did when I was a freshman. I refuse to stress myself out a ton.

Bump: someone at our school was one out of ~800 early applicants to get into Harvard.

Theres a kid a few years back who served in the Sith Academy on Korriban

pretty impressive imo

@Experimental Someone from my school got into Harvard by EA

@Expeimental Same here too at my school

There’s a kid at my school who is a legit professional hockey player and plays for an NHL team! Crazy because I never knew they allowed guys to play before college until I met him.

Bump: our school has at least two people going to each ivy, and we have a total student population of about 960!

A girl I know is learning French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin and Russian, and she’s really good at all of them. Perhaps she’s not so ‘extreme’ yet but I’m sure she will be in a few years time.

This girl (who got into Harvard), didn’t have a lunch period so she could fit 6 AP courses in her schedule.

Not trying to brag or anything, but I get 100s in Gym Class.

3 early at Harvard and 2 early at MIT + 2 or 3 at all of the other ivies minus dartmouth.

My friend’s cousin (graduated from our high school a few years ago) won the gold medal in Women’s Water Polo at the last olympics. :)

This same friend’s dad was also a producer for the first Hunger Games and is a producer for the upcoming second one.

Just thought I’d add that last part…
