I am now in my second year that just recently transferred to the University of Houston. I did most of my freshman courses at houston community college. I am planning on taking more this year, while taking a couple from the main campus(University of Houston). I currently have a 3.6 gpa from hcc. Would that even get me an internship? Do community college courses look bad on the transcript. The final 2 years of college will have to be done at the university anyway since they arent offered at the community college. Any ideas and input from anyone? Would be greatly appreciated!
your 3.6 gpa is good and you should be proud of that
the cc classes won’t hurt you, but the recruiters might not give you extra points for it if they haven’t heard of the place.
It may or may not give you an internship. It depends on many factors like past experience, extracurriculars, classes, grade level, how you interview etc.
If I were you I would apply to as many places as possible and don’t focus on one too much. Its to your benefit to mention your work ethic, classes, projects, and enthusiasm since you have only done 1/2 of your college classes so far. Good luck! The first internship is always hardest to get, the second is much easier.
