I am currently applying for colleges as an international student with a F-1 visa. Until now, I thought I would not be eligible for any financial aid because I am an international student, but I have been looking through a few college websites and it seems like international students can also apply for financial aid just that the process would be different. Since I do not have social security, I cannot use FAFSA. Does anyone know how international students could apply for financial aid. Thank you.
Look on EACH college website…in the financial aid section. Look for international students. You will find what you need to do to apply for financial aid…if the schools offer it to international students. Each school will have its own requirements. Do what each school tells you to do…and do not miss the DEADLINES.
There are some schools that award international students the same kind of need based aid as others, some that offer limited aid…and some that offer no aid.
No, you can’t do the fafsa. But you are also not eligible for any U.S. federally funded aid.
