F 1 visa

sorry, sorry, i meant free room! you'll prolly have to fend for yourself in terms of food....at least at Williams. i think it is customary to get free room, at the very least, if you get an on-campus job during the summer or get to do research...yeah, so one has to be extremely frugal

Nora88 and sezgikocak where are you both going?

I'm going to Wellesley.

I'm thrilled!!! ok, did they send your I-20 with you admission package?
williams sent me the Cert of Finances form which i now have to mail back to them...they want originals. i just hope i get to DHL it or something, cos I want to get my visa ASAP!!

got yours yet?

Actually, I have a similar problem... I mailed Wellesley the I-20 but missed one tiny section, and now I have to fill that in, too... I want to get a visa, too!!!!!

noo.for me it will on june.

yeah, me too, lol. you mean they actually sent the I-20 request form/Cert of fin. back to you to fill out correctly? and you sent it back to them again??

No, they sent me an e-mail, and now we're figuring out a way to get a new copy to them as soon as possible.

O, I just found out. I will fax them a copy of it, with the additional number on it.

yeah, sezgikocak, may or june. but at this visa info session, the consular officer said they'd prefer us to interview ASAP...i know someone who's interviewing in two weeks!!

just curious, Nora, how did you send the form first; by courier? or were you and ED applicant? i'm just wondering if courier service is really going to be worth it...will they also FEDEX/DHL the I-20 itself....so stressful..

yeah, FAX is it...but they might still request you to put the original in the mail.

i also faxed my stuff, they said they could begin to work on it but they still need the ORIGINALS...but since you've already sent it in at first, you might not need to send it again in the mail...or maybe not, hehe.

im going to UT Austin hopefully, and i will fax my cert of fincances today.. then the ut ppl will send the I20 and ****. the problem is they send it through airmail which takes not less than 20 25 days to arrive. the visa situation is pretty fickle here so i wanted to apply ASAP

i'm worried too, cos if the williams admit package could take 21 days to arrive, how much more the I-20 and they still need originals which i would be forced to DHL...yeah, ASAP is the way to go....good luck to all in your visa interviews:)

Thanks... I already got one for an exchange year a couple of years ago, and it wasn't bad, just a lot of waiting. (But then again, I would suppose that Switzerland is one of the most uncomplicated countries to get a US visa)

Got one last year too for an interview....but then that was in nigeria and it just took 2 days. here in Zimbabwe, it's 24 hrs....but i just can't wait to see my F-1 on my passport, you know what I mean...at last i'm going for real....have you faxed your stuff? have they replied?

Not yet... The office is already closed for today, so I will see to all of this tomorrow.

sorry, didn't realise it's nearly/past midnight, lol.

Yeah, well... 11.30.... good night!
