F in APUSH Am I done?

Somebody got caught plagiarizing my homework, and now I'm about to be dropped from APUSH with an F. My GPA (before this is factored in) is 3.8 UW at an extremely competitive public high school. I took the ACT and got a 35 (might retake, first try) and haven't taken/studied for the SAT yet. I have a few questions about my chances:

I got a 228 on the PSAT, so will this prevent me from getting finalist recognition?

How fishy will going from an A- to an F look to colleges? Also can I retake this semester's class online?

Are my chances at even the lower tier top colleges gone? (USC, etc...)

Thanks

When say “caught plagiarizing” did you give permission to the other person, or was it unintentional? If You had no say in the cheating, you should argue it with the administration. If you did allow him/her to copy off of you, you are done. Even without the F, the mark on your record will disqualify you for any mildly respectable school.

The school won’t disclose that I cheated but the F mark will be there. Basically, it was sent from someone who I had sent it to to another person without my permission

An F will prevent you from becoming a NMF.

If you’re not guilty of cheating that you and your parents need to strongly fight this. this will keep you out of many good schools.

Going from an A- to an F will look like you got caught cheating, you had severe depression, or you got senioritis a year early.

Oh yeah, it’s bad.

That is absolutely ridiculous! Plagiarizing on a HOMEWORK assignment gets you an F? Honestly i would fight with the admin about this… they should just give you a zero on the hw assignment, that’s how it is in must schools, unless you get caught multiple times.

If your school doesn’t report the cheating, you’re not AS badly screwed. I would try to convince administration to let you off with a 0 on the hw grade, or come up with a compromise, especially if it was your first offense. Seeing how they didn’t report the honor code violation, I would say you might have a fair chance at convincing them.

UCs allow classes to be retaken, so you could get into Berkeley.
