I have a really big problem. As an international student I have to fill in the Certification of Finances and International Student Financial Aid Application. My question is that if my parents are divorced and I live with my mother, how should I complete the FA Application? Should I only consider my mother's income as our household income? Should I fill in the same application with my father's information? Or is there another app for divorced parents? Please help, I'm really confused :(

(I checked the colleges' websites and of course they have no information about divorced parents' FA App. Although every school might have different requirements, I'm interested what is the general path to be followed?)

I had a similar problem and sought advice from my financial aid office. I believe only my mother's income was used for filling out transcripts, as she claimed me as a dependent on her taxes. Each situation is different so I would advise you to contact your financial aid office.

If you are applying to a PROFILE school, I know you have to get both parents' incomes. If the school is FAFSA only, and you are using the International Student Fin Aid Forms because you are not permitted to file FAFSA, it is possible that only your custodial parent's info is needed since that is all FAFSA requires of US students. But as someone said, you have to contact each office individually as there is no set policy.
